Prospects

Every year there are new hot prospects and speculators will pay high prices to get them. I remember when J.D. Drew was going to be the next Mark McGwire and his rookie cards were sky high. He has never come close to living up to the hype and his rookie cards now only go for a few dollars. Last year Jay Bruce started on fire and his cards were going for hundreds of dollars. Now the prices are coming down as he is having a bad year so far. Can anyone say Alex Gordon? Francisco Liriano struggles after having arm surgery.

Where have you gone Rick Asadorian?

The card companies take advantage of speculators trying to make a big hit with products like Bowman Draft and Bowman Chrome. They continue to raise the prices even though the players have done nothing.

Buying all the prospect cards is no different than gambling.
