Free Comic Book Day May 2, 2009

On May 2, 2009 go to your local comic store and get free comics. I personally recommend Midtown Comics located in Manhattan in New York City. Below is information about Free Comic Book Day:

Free Comic Book Day (FCBD) is an annual event that takes place the first Saturday of May, and generates true excitement for the fantastic art form of comics! Over 25 titles are available, all specially printed by comic book publishers for the event, and offered free to the public at participating comic shops. For 2009, some of the gems include Marvel Comics’ Wolverine: Origin of an X-Man, and Avengers, by Brian Michael Bendis and Jim Cheung. Other popular titles include Transformers from IDW Publishing and Star Wars: The Clone Wars, from Dark Horse. The Green Lantern epic Blackest Night, by Geoff Johns and Ethan Van Sciver, is also a highlight and sets the stage for a huge DC comics event coming in July. Kids will love titles like Owly, DC Kids, Disney/Pixar's Cars from Boom! Studios and Archie. FCBD is an in-store event only, so visit Midtown Comics in person to experience the greatest comic book event of the year!
FCBD is fast becoming a mainstream family event, and is exclusive to comic book specialty shops, and book stores and mass merchants may not participate.
