Where Have The Set Builders Gone?

I was at a card show this past weekend and the card dealers selling commons were complaining that the set builders have disappeared.   You can't blame the disappearance of set builders on the economy as cards are usually sold anywhere from 5 cents to a quarter.

The new generation of card collector's wants the big hit and doesn't care to complete sets or go through the challenge of it.  I recently was told by a friend in his late 50s that he had completed a set after 17 years.  Would someone in their 20s or 30s do the same?

Lots of the set builders enjoy the cards and actually read the backs of the cards and digest all the information.  They enjoy what they are doing.

Do you still build sets?  What was the toughest set  you've ever completed?
